Techniques for Freeform Knitting & Crochet (CLASS FULL)
a 2 day workshop with Prudence Mapstone
Sat 23rd & Sun 24th July, 10am - 4pm     $140

We are delighted to bring Prudence to the festival this year.  Participants in this workshop will learn various principles for successfully combining knitting and crochet together in a freeform, multi-directional manner.  A number of different techniques and many stitches and motifs that work well for this style of designing will be studied and tried.  Prior skills in both knitting and crochet is necessary (just the basics is OK).

Prudence Mapstone is a Brisbane textile artist whose medium is freeform knitting and crochet.  Her unique way of blending the two traditional crafts enables her to produce richly textured wearable art pieces that still retain all of the flexibility, drape and fit of traditional knitwear.  Prudence shares her freeform techniques internationally through workshops, lectures and shows.  In 2002 she published her first book, and her work has been featured in many other books and magazines worldwide. www.knotjustknitting.com

Wild Knitting (CLASS FULL)
a 2 day workshop with Loani Prior Grand Purl Baa, Queen of the Tea Cosies
Thu 28th & Fri 29th July, 10am - 4pm     $140

Loani's tea cosies are the haute couture of the gentle arts. She will share with you her voracious lust for colour, good design and beautiful wool. Tea cosies are funny even when they are not meant to be funny.  AND a tea cosy is the perfect little project to learn a great number of knitting (and crocheting) skills.  If you can knit a stitch and purl a stitch and cast on and off, you can join this class.

Loani Prior lives on QLD's Sunshine Coast where her woolly obsessions border on becoming a disorder.  Loani has been knitting since the age of six.  She published her first book, Wild Tea Cosies in 2008, which has been a roaring success in Australia going to reprint within just four months of first release.  REALLY Wild Tea Cosies was released in April 2010 and graced the Top 10 National Bestseller Independent Bookstores list two weeks in a row. http://www.grandpurlbaa.com/
